It is a question of whether you, as a Chief Marketing Officer, can lead with it. Research published by Gartner in 2025 predicts that by 2027, a lack of personal AI literacy will become a top-three reason for CMO replacement. Yet data from the B2B CMO Project in 2026 shows that only 32% of marketing leaders feel equipped to guide their organisations through AI adoption at a strategic level. The gap between enthusiasm and execution is where reputations are made or damaged. This article is for the marketing leader who has moved past the "should we use AI?" conversation and needs a sharper answer to the harder question: how do we make AI a competitive advantage that the board can see and believe in? Why the Board Needs a Different Conversation Most CMOs arrive at board meetings armed with efficiency metrics: time saved, content produced, cost per lead reduced. These numbers matter, but they are a trap. They position AI as a cost-containment tool — and they position marketing as a cost centre. The CMOs winning executive trust in 2026 are arriving at the board table with a different narrative. They are presenting AI as a market-shaping capability: one that accelerates insight cycles, compresses time-to-pipeline, and gives the business a materially faster read on customer behaviour than competitors enjoy. The distinction matters. "We saved 400 hours on content production" invites a follow-up question about headcount reduction. "We reduced insight-to-action cycles from six weeks to four days, and here is the pipeline impact" invites investment conversation. The Three Layers of AI Fluency for Marketing Leaders AI fluency for a CMO is not about prompting ChatGPT. It is a three-layer capability: Layer one is operational fluency — knowing… ## The Brand vs Demand Debate Is Over — And Demand Lost URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-brand-vs-demand-debate-is-over-and-demand-lost/ Published: 2026-05-01 Categories: Uncategorized For the better part of a decade, B2B marketing budgets moved in one direction: towards measurable, attributable demand generation and away from anything that looked like brand. The logic was understa… For the better part of a decade, B2B marketing budgets moved in one direction: towards measurable, attributable demand generation and away from anything that looked like brand. The logic was understandable. Digital channels made click-through rates and cost-per-lead trackable in ways that brand awareness metrics never could be. CFOs rewarded what they could see. The consequences of that shift are now visible in pipeline data across the sector. Benchmarkit's 2025 Brand vs Demand Benchmarks report found that companies with sustained brand investment consistently outperformed pure demand-generation models on pipeline quality, deal velocity, and customer lifetime value. The question facing B2B CMOs now is not whether to reinvest in brand — it is how to make that case to a C-suite that has spent years being told brand metrics are vanity. How We Got Here The demand generation era was not irrational. In the 2010s, digital channels genuinely opened up the ability to track marketing's contribution to pipeline in ways that had previously been impossible. ABM emerged as a discipline that promised to make B2B marketing feel more like precision engineering and less like educated guessing. What got lost in that pivot was the insight that brand and demand are not alternatives. They operate on different timescales and on different parts of the buying journey. Brand shapes preference before a buyer enters an active evaluation. Demand generation captures intent when that preference is already formed. Brands that defunded brand investment found they had a full demand generation engine pulling at a depleted pool of pre-qualified intent. Buyers who might have self-selected into the funnel stopped arriving. The pipeline looked healthy until it suddenly did not. The Data Behind the Rebalancing Argument Several data points have shifted the conversation among senior B2B marketing leaders in 2025 and 2026. McKinsey's 2025 research found… ## How CMOs Are Rebuilding Trust with the Board — One Revenue Metric at a Time URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-cmos-are-rebuilding-trust-with-the-board-one-revenue-metric-at-a-time/ Published: 2026-04-01 Categories: Uncategorized The numbers are uncomfortable but important: only 32% of CEOs currently trust their CMOs, and 34% of Fortune 500 companies have removed the CMO role from their C-suite entirely. These are not the statistics of a function in crisis. They are the statistics of a function that has spent a decade reporting the wrong things to the wrong people in the wrong language. The credibility gap between marketing leaders and their boards has not appeared because marketing has delivered less. In many organisations, marketing capability has never been higher. The gap exists because the metrics marketing leaders have used to measure and communicate their value have consistently failed to translate into the language of business outcomes that boards are paid to care about. Closing that gap is the defining leadership challenge for B2B CMOs in 2026. The Self-Inflicted Credibility Problem The B2B CMO Project's 2026 research report identifies what it calls a self-inflicted problem at the heart of marketing's credibility challenge. A decade of reporting MQLs, cost-per-click, and share of voice trained the C-suite to see marketing as a cost centre that optimised its own internal metrics — rather than as a business function with direct accountability for commercial outcomes. The MQL in particular became a symbol of the disconnect. Marketing celebrated MQL volume. Sales complained that MQLs were not converting. Finance asked why the pipeline was not growing despite increasing marketing investment. The loop never closed — because the metric that marketing owned stopped at the point where business value actually began. The CMOs who are gaining board trust in 2026 have not just changed their reporting. They have changed their mental model of what marketing is responsible for. What Revenue Accountability Actually Means Revenue accountability for a CMO does not mean owning the entire sales number. It means… ## Building the B2B Marketing Team for 2027: Talent, AI, and the Skills That Will Matter URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/building-the-b2b-marketing-team-for-2027-talent-ai-and-the-skills-that-will-matter/ Published: 2026-03-01 Categories: Uncategorized The B2B marketing hiring market in 2026 is producing a paradox: organisations are hiring faster than ever into marketing roles while simultaneously reporting that they cannot find the skills they nee… The B2B marketing hiring market in 2026 is producing a paradox: organisations are hiring faster than ever into marketing roles while simultaneously reporting that they cannot find the skills they need. The explanation is that the job descriptions most companies are using were written for a marketing function that no longer exists. Data from Mercer's 2025/2026 Skills Snapshot Survey shows a significant shift towards skills-first hiring models across sectors, with marketing among the functions experiencing the most rapid skill obsolescence. AI fluency, data architecture literacy, buying-group-centric campaign design, and answer engine optimisation strategy are all skills that did not exist meaningfully two years ago — and they are already becoming table-stakes for mid-to-senior marketing hires. The CMOs building teams that will outperform in 2027 are not just hiring differently. They are thinking about talent differently. The Skills That Are Actually in Demand Research from the B2B CMO Project identifies five skill clusters as the highest priority for B2B marketing teams entering 2027. Financial literacy and P&L understanding: the ability to build and defend a marketing investment case in CFO-grade language. This is now a line requirement for senior marketing leaders, not just CMOs. AI-powered insight and automation: not the ability to use AI tools, but the ability to design AI-augmented workflows, evaluate AI output quality, and govern AI use responsibly. The distinction between AI users and AI orchestrators is increasingly visible in compensation data. Brand and category creation: the strategic capability to define and own a market position, rather than simply competing within an existing one. This is a rare and expensive skill that very few candidates can genuinely demonstrate. Cross-functional executive leadership: the ability to operate as a business partner to the CRO, CFO, and CEO rather than as a service function head. This is a cultural and behavioural… ## Why Thought Leadership Is Now a Pipeline Strategy — Not a Brand Nice-to-Have URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/why-thought-leadership-is-now-a-pipeline-strategy-not-a-brand-nice-to-have/ Published: 2026-02-01 Categories: Uncategorized For years, thought leadership sat in an awkward position in B2B marketing budgets — too valuable to cut, too difficult to attribute to pipeline, and perpetually at risk whenever quarterly targets l… For years, thought leadership sat in an awkward position in B2B marketing budgets — too valuable to cut, too difficult to attribute to pipeline, and perpetually at risk whenever quarterly targets looked shaky. That era is ending. Research from TopRank Marketing and Ascend2 published in 2026 shows that 47% of B2B marketers are planning to increase their investment in original research and data-driven thought leadership content this year. More significantly, B2B marketers reporting high ROI from their strategies are consistently more likely to be using thought leadership across all funnel stages — not just at the top — compared with lower-performing peers. The shift is driven by a convergence of forces: AI is commoditising standard content, answer engines are making generic SEO increasingly crowded, and B2B buyers are demonstrating a strong preference for vendors who demonstrate genuine expertise over those who simply demonstrate availability. Thought leadership is no longer competing with demand generation. It is becoming a demand generation strategy. What Effective B2B Thought Leadership Actually Looks Like The phrase "thought leadership" has been so abused in marketing that it is worth resetting expectations. Effective B2B thought leadership in 2026 is not the CMO sharing motivational quotes on LinkedIn. It is not blog posts that restate industry consensus with a branded header. It is not recycled research from third parties, attributed vaguely. Effective thought leadership is distinctive, uncomfortable, and specific. It takes a position that not everyone will agree with. It presents data or evidence that the audience has not seen before, or frames familiar data in a way that produces a genuinely new insight. It names the problem that buyers are experiencing before they have found the language to name it themselves. The test that the best B2B content teams apply: would a competitor be willing to publish this?… ## ABM Is Dead. Long Live Buying Group Marketing. In many organisations, it delivered on part of that promise — bringing a sharper focus to target account selection and creating better conditions for sales and marketing alignment. But a structural limitation built into ABM's original design has become increasingly visible. ABM targets accounts. Enterprise buying decisions are made by groups — typically between six and ten stakeholders across multiple functions and seniority levels. Targeting the account without engaging the full buying group is like having a plan to win a deal that only addresses the budget holder and ignores everyone else in the room. Buying group marketing is the evolved framework. It is not a rejection of ABM's principles — it is their logical extension into the complexity of how large B2B purchases actually happen. The Buying Group Reality The average enterprise B2B technology purchase in 2026 involves between six and ten decision-makers, according to Gartner research. These individuals do not all have the same priorities, the same information, or the same relationship with risk. The IT leader evaluating integration complexity is not the same person as the financial controller modelling total cost of ownership, who is not the same person as the end-user champion pushing for adoption. Standard ABM treats the account as a single entity and optimises for engagement with the most senior or most visible stakeholder. Buying group marketing treats the purchase committee as the unit of engagement and optimises for influence across the full spectrum of roles involved in the decision. The commercial impact of the distinction is significant. Research consistently shows that deals involving full buying group engagement close faster, at higher value, and with stronger expansion potential than deals where marketing has only engaged with one or two stakeholders… ## Marketing Operations Is Not a Support Function — It Is Your Revenue Engine URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/marketing-operations-is-not-a-support-function-it-is-your-revenue-engine/ Published: 2025-12-01 Categories: Uncategorized Ask most B2B marketing leaders where their marketing operations function sits in their mental model and the honest answer, in most organisations, is somewhere between IT and admin. It manages the MAP… Ask most B2B marketing leaders where their marketing operations function sits in their mental model and the honest answer, in most organisations, is somewhere between IT and admin. It manages the MAP, cleans the data lists, and makes sure the email sends work. It is the department that marketing relies on when something is broken and rarely thinks about when things are working. That model is costing organisations meaningful pipeline. The B2B marketing functions generating the strongest commercial returns in 2026 have repositioned marketing operations as a strategic capability — the intelligence layer that connects marketing activity to revenue outcomes, and the orchestration engine that makes AI, data, and martech investment actually produce results. This is not a technology story. It is a leadership story about what marketing operations is actually for. What Strategic Marketing Operations Looks Like The distinction between tactical and strategic marketing operations is not about headcount or tooling. It is about mandate. Tactical marketing operations executes against a brief — it builds the campaign workflow, manages the lead routing rules, and produces the performance dashboard that marketing requested. It is reactive, functional, and valuable. Strategic marketing operations shapes the brief. It identifies where the revenue system is losing efficiency, recommends changes to the attribution model, challenges the quality of the data feeding the AI, and surfaces the insight that changes the targeting strategy. It is proactive, analytical, and commercially oriented. The difference in commercial impact between organisations running the two models is visible in pipeline conversion rates, deal velocity, and the quality of data available for AI-powered personalisation. Strategic marketing operations multiplies the value of every other marketing investment. Tactical marketing operations enables it without amplifying it. The Data Problem That Marketing Operations Can Solve PwC's May 2025 Pulse Survey identified unclear ownership and limited access… ## Why the Most Effective B2B CMOs Are Investing in Peer Connection — Not More Conferences URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/why-the-most-effective-b2b-cmos-are-investing-in-peer-connection-not-more-conferences/ Published: 2025-11-01 Categories: Uncategorized The traditional marketing conference circuit is not disappearing, but its role in senior marketing professionals' development is shifting. For CMO-level practitioners, the large conference format —… The traditional marketing conference circuit is not disappearing, but its role in senior marketing professionals' development is shifting. For CMO-level practitioners, the large conference format — keynote speakers, expo floors, and networking cocktail hours — delivers decreasing marginal returns with each passing year. The reason is simple: the most valuable thing a senior marketing leader can get from a professional development context is unfiltered peer intelligence. Not the polished presentation of a speaker with a book to sell, but the honest account of what actually happened when a CMO of a comparable organisation tried to implement AI-powered personalisation, or made the case for brand investment to a sceptical CFO, or restructured their marketing team around buying group principles. The peer community model — smaller, more selective, more candid — is increasingly where that intelligence lives. What Peer Intelligence Actually Delivers The information asymmetry between senior marketing practitioners and the general marketing media is substantial and growing. What gets published in marketing trade media is largely curated, vendor-influenced, and optimised for broad audience engagement rather than senior practitioner utility. What happens in a peer intelligence community is different. When a CMO from a financial services brand shares in detail what happened when they moved to an AI-generated content model — including the brand safety incident that nearly derailed it, the internal escalation it triggered, and the governance changes that eventually resolved it — the value for the peers in the room is qualitatively different from any published case study. That candour is only available in contexts of trust. Trust requires selection, reciprocity, and a genuine sense of peer equivalence. The most effective peer communities for senior marketing leaders are built on all three. The CMO's Isolation Problem The C-suite is a lonely environment by design. The CMO cannot be fully candid… ## The Loyalty Gap Is a Marketing Problem — and CMOs Need to Own It URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-loyalty-gap-is-a-marketing-problem-and-cmos-need-to-own-it/ Published: 2025-10-01 Categories: Uncategorized PwC's 2025 Customer Experience Survey produced one of the most striking statistics in recent B2B marketing research: 89% of executives believe their customers have become more loyal to their brand ov… PwC's 2025 Customer Experience Survey produced one of the most striking statistics in recent B2B marketing research: 89% of executives believe their customers have become more loyal to their brand over the past few years, while only 39% of customers describe themselves as more loyal to the brands they regularly use. That 50-percentage-point gap is not a measurement anomaly. It is a structural problem in how senior leadership perceives the customer relationship versus how that relationship is actually experienced. And because customer experience sits at the intersection of marketing, product, and service delivery, the gap tends to fall between functions — with no single leader fully accountable for closing it. The B2B CMOs who are building the strongest commercial positions in 2026 are the ones who have decided to own this gap rather than wait for organisational clarity about whose problem it is. Why the Loyalty Gap Is a Commercial Problem The commercial consequences of the loyalty gap are concrete and significant. PwC's research shows that 52% of consumers stopped using or buying from a brand because they had a bad experience with its products or services. In B2B environments, where switching costs are higher and procurement cycles longer, the equivalent figure is likely lower in frequency but considerably higher in revenue impact per instance. The loyalty gap also matters for acquisition cost. Brands that customers are genuinely loyal to generate more referrals, command higher retention rates, and attract new buyers through word-of-mouth that paid media cannot replicate. The inverse is also true: brands where the loyalty gap is wide are investing acquisition budget to offset churn that a better customer experience would have prevented. For CMOs, the commercial case for owning customer experience strategy is not about extending marketing's remit. It is about recognising that acquisition investment is being… ## Sustainable B2B Marketing: Why ESG Is Becoming a Commercial Strategy, Not a Compliance Exercise URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/sustainable-b2b-marketing-why-esg-is-becoming-a-commercial-strategy-not-a-compliance-exercise/ Published: 2025-09-01 Categories: Uncategorized Sustainability has spent several years as a B2B marketing topic that most senior practitioners treat with visible ambivalence. On one hand, ESG commitments are increasingly expected by enterprise procurement teams, institutional investors, and talent acquisition. On the other hand, the risks of greenwashing accusations have made many marketing leaders reluctant to lead with sustainability claims. The resolution to that ambivalence is emerging in the data. B2B buyers in 2026 are not primarily looking for brands that make ambitious sustainability claims. They are looking for brands whose sustainability practices are documented, verified, and integrated into their commercial operations. The distinction between sustainability as brand story and sustainability as operational fact is increasingly the distinction between a claim that helps and one that hinders. CMOs who understand this distinction are turning their organisations' genuine sustainability progress into a measurable commercial advantage. Why Procurement Is Driving the ESG Conversation The shift in B2B sustainability expectations is largely procurement-led. Enterprise buyers are operating under their own ESG commitments, including Scope 3 emissions targets that require them to account for the sustainability performance of their supply chains. When a procurement team is choosing between two equivalent suppliers, the one with verifiable sustainability credentials directly reduces the buyer's own reporting burden. This is a fundamentally different dynamic from the consumer sustainability story, where brand values influence purchasing preference in a more diffuse and emotionally mediated way. In B2B, sustainability credentials are increasingly becoming a procurement criterion rather than a preference — which means they can be a binary qualifier for tender lists in certain sectors and categories. CMOs who have helped their organisations build and document genuine sustainability progress are finding that this credential is surfacing earlier in buying cycles than it used to, and being weighted more heavily in supplier evaluation than it was two… ## Executive Brand on LinkedIn: The B2B CMO’s Strategic Asset — or Distraction? The… LinkedIn has become the default recommendation for B2B marketing leaders looking to build their professional profile, demonstrate thought leadership, and extend their organisation's brand reach. The advice is consistent enough — post regularly, share your perspective, engage with your network — that it has become a productivity ritual for many CMOs even when the commercial rationale is unclear. The honest question that most marketing leaders have not answered rigorously is: what does LinkedIn executive brand actually do for the business, and is that return worth the time investment it requires to do well? This article makes an honest assessment — drawing on the experience of B2B marketing leaders who have invested seriously in LinkedIn presence and measured what it produces, alongside research into how B2B buyers are actually using LinkedIn in their evaluation and purchasing behaviour. What the Data Shows About LinkedIn in B2B Buying LinkedIn's own B2B marketing research consistently demonstrates that the platform plays a significant role in the pre-purchase phase of B2B decision-making. B2B buyers are using LinkedIn to research vendors, evaluate leadership teams, assess organisational culture, and form early impressions of whether a potential supplier understands their market. The implication for CMOs is that their LinkedIn presence — or absence — is being evaluated by potential buyers as a signal of the organisation's commercial intelligence and market awareness. A CMO with a visible, substantive LinkedIn presence sends a signal about the organisation's level of engagement with its market. A CMO with no presence, or a dormant one, sends a different signal. This is not an argument for LinkedIn activity as a vanity metric. It is an argument that LinkedIn is part of the first impression that enterprise buyers form about your organisation — and that first impressions in B2B are formed increasingly in digital channels before… ## The Hidden Challenge of B2B Marketing Leadership: Resilience, Pressure, and the CMO Mental Load URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-hidden-challenge-of-b2b-marketing-leadership-resilience-pressure-and-the-cmo-mental-load/ Published: 2025-07-01 Categories: Uncategorized There is a conversation happening in private rooms at marketing leadership events that rarely makes it into trade publications. It is the conversation about the genuine difficulty of the CMO role — the board pressure, the attribution scrutiny, the team management complexity, the pace of change, and the particular isolation that comes with being the most senior marketing person in an organisation where no one else fully understands what marketing is trying to do. This is not a complaint. The CMO role carries significant responsibility, significant compensation, and significant influence. But the idea that marketing leadership is a pressure-free career path would not survive contact with anyone who has actually held the role at senior level. Bringing this conversation into the open — not as a wellbeing programme or an HR initiative, but as an honest professional discussion — is something the Marketing Leadership Hub has committed to. Because resilience is not a soft topic. It is a commercial one. The Specific Pressures of the Modern B2B CMO The pressure profile of the modern B2B CMO is distinctive in several ways that are not well-captured by generic leadership stress research. Attribution pressure is constant and acute. Every quarter, the CMO is expected to demonstrate a causal link between marketing investment and commercial outcomes in an environment where causation is genuinely difficult to establish cleanly. The CFO wants numbers. The CEO wants growth. The board wants both. The methodological reality of marketing attribution — that many of its most important effects are long-cycle and indirect — is not an easy truth to communicate without sounding defensive. The pace of change is compounding. AI, buying behaviour shifts, search algorithm changes, platform policy changes, and competitive moves are all happening simultaneously and at a speed that makes strategic planning feel perpetually provisional. The… ## 2025: A BIG Year for AI – Advancements, Impacts, and Challenges URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/2025-a-big-year-for-ai-advancements-impacts-and-challenges/ Published: 2025-01-08 Categories: Uncategorized Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a transformative force, poised to revolutionise industries and redefine technological innovation. 2025 is a pivotal year for AI advancements, making i… Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a transformative force, poised to revolutionise industries and redefine technological innovation. 2025 is a pivotal year for AI advancements, making it crucial to understand the key trends, opportunities, and challenges ahead. This document explores these projected advancements, their anticipated impact across various sectors, and the associated benefits and risks. Projected Advancements in AI for 2025 – What Awaits Us? The AI market is experiencing explosive growth, projected to expand annually by 36.6% between 2024 and 2030, making it a major driver of global economic growth. This growth is fueled by increasing AI adoption, with 55% of companies already using AI and 45% actively exploring its implementation. However, some commentary suggests a potential shift towards efficiency and specialised AI solutions, leading to more focused, targeted applications. Key Trends Shaping the AI Landscape: Collaborative AI Systems: The Power of Teamwork: Experts at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI predict the rise of specialised AI agents working together under human supervision. These "AI teams" are expected to tackle complex problems in healthcare (assisting with administrative tasks like nurse handoffs and freeing staff for patient care), education (multimodal AI processing speech and images to personalise learning), and finance. This shift emphasises the evolving human role: providing high-level guidance and focusing on creativity and critical thinking. More Autonomous AI Agents: Taking on Greater Responsibility: AI-powered agents are predicted to become more capable and autonomous, handling more complex activities and even making decisions. This will transform business processes. For example, nearly 70% of Fortune 500 companies already use Microsoft 365 Copilot for email management and note-taking. In 2025, these agents will evolve to handle more complex tasks with greater autonomy. Enhanced Personalisation: Tailored Experiences Across Industries: AI will drive greater personalisation in retail (customer experiences, supply chains), finance (risk management, fraud detection), and… ## An Unforgettable Evening of Fine Wine and Connection URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/an-unforgettable-evening-of-fine-wine-and-connection/ Published: 2024-06-29 Categories: Uncategorized Marketing Leadership Hub's Exclusive Event with Goedhuis Waddesdon On a magical evening that combined fine wines' elegance with marketing professionals' camaraderie, the Marketing Leadership Hub host… Marketing Leadership Hub's Exclusive Event with Goedhuis Waddesdon On a magical evening that combined fine wines' elegance with marketing professionals' camaraderie, the Marketing Leadership Hub hosted an exclusive event with wine veteran Peter Tompkins from the prestigious Goedhuis Waddesdon wine team. AI-generated images are rapidly becoming mainstream, transforming how businesses approach visual content production. This shift is driven by AI’s ability to generate high-quality images quickly and cost-effectively, which is particularly beneficial in industries like marketing and photography. Whether you are a business looking to streamline your marketing efforts, an artist seeking new creative horizons, or an entrepreneur exploring the commercial potential of AI art, the time to engage with AI is now. AI in Photography: Efficiency and Creativity One of the most exciting applications of AI in image creation is photography. Traditionally, producing high-quality images for a design requirement or marketing campaign would require extensive planning, a professional photographer, and often several days of shooting. The costs associated with these photoshoots, including hiring models, renting locations, and post-production editing, can be substantial. For instance, consider one of our recent projects, for which we needed images of sliced, multi-coloured olives falling, green tea pouring, wood shavings descending, and many strawberries. Creating these and around 30 final images through traditional methods would have taken several days and incurred significant costs. However, by using AI image generation, we completed the task in a matter of hours. This saved time and money and allowed us to explore various creative options without the constraints of physical logistics. AI in Illustrations: Swift Iterations for Creative Campaigns Another compelling use case for AI-generated images is the creation of illustrations for marketing campaigns. Recently, we worked on a campaign based around children’s books. The ability to quickly create and iterate on illustrations for backgrounds was invaluable. We achieved what traditionally would have taken weeks or even months to commission and revise in… ## AI & The Future Workforce: Unlocking New Horizons URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/ai-the-future-workforce-unlocking-new-horizons/ Published: 2024-03-14 Categories: Uncategorized Beyond the Fear: How Artificial Intelligence is Paving the Way for Innovative Careers   A common narrative has emerged amid rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics: Aside… Beyond the Fear: How Artificial Intelligence is Paving the Way for Innovative Careers   A common narrative has emerged amid rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics: Aside from the fear that machines will take over the world, it is the more realistic thought that they will usurp human jobs, leaving widespread unemployment in their wake. This perspective, while understandable, overlooks the nuanced reality of how technology reshapes the workforce. Instead of viewing AI and robotics as threats to employment, it's more productive to consider them as catalysts for creating new job opportunities, many of which we are only beginning to imagine. The future, rather than being marked by job scarcity, will likely be characterised by the emergence of novel professions driven by the integration of AI into various sectors. AI as a Catalyst for New Job Creation The idea that technology leads to job displacement has been introduced previously. History shows us that technological revolutions, from the Industrial Age to the Information Era, while disrupting traditional roles, have invariably led to the creation of new types of work. In my career, I've gone from being a graphic designer to a digital marketing expert, website and mobile app consultant, and online brand strategist, all of which didn't exist 30 years ago! Similarly, the AI revolution is poised to transform the job market, not by eliminating jobs wholesale, but by generating new roles that harness the synergy between human creativity and AI capabilities. Bridging the Gap Between Fear and Reality The concern that AI and robots will take over jobs predominantly stems from a misunderstanding of AI's role in the workforce. The Story Begins: AI and Personalization Once upon a time, marketing was a hit-and-miss game, but AI has turned it into a tale of precision and personalisation. With AI, brands are now crafting narratives that resonate with each individual. Think of AI as a master storyteller, understanding each listener's unique preferences and spinning tales that speak directly to their hearts. As 2023 winds down, it's time to gear up for the next big thing in brand marketing. The future's knocking, packed with trends that promise to advance our brands in 2024. Let's dive into the seven key trends that are shaping up to be game-changers: 1. Personalisation with Permission: The privacy uproar of 2023 was a reality check. In 2024, it's all about striking a balance. We're talking about personalisation that respects boundaries, using zero-party and contextual data. Interactive content, preference surveys, and opt-in targeting are the way forward. The golden rule? Be transparent and offer value in return for data. It's about engaging customers on their terms. 2. AI: Your Strategic Partner: AI is more than a buzzword; it's a paradigm shift. In 2024, expect AI to be the backbone of marketing strategies, from optimising campaigns to predicting trends. It's time to move away from guesswork and embrace data-driven insights. But remember, AI is a tool to enhance, not replace, the human touch in marketing. Our CEO, Damon Segal, provides training and keynotes for those interested. 3. Multi-Format Storytelling: Attention spans are shrinking (again!), and content preferences are ever-changing. In 2024, versatility is key. While long-form content remains relevant, short-form videos, AR experiences, and interactive streams will dominate. Mastering storytelling across various formats will be crucial to connect with a diverse audience. 4. Embracing the Metaverse: The metaverse is more than a fad; it's a new frontier for marketing. Brands that dive into this virtual world with authentic experiences and community-focused strategies will lead the pack. It's about creating value in this new realm, not just chasing the latest trend. Bloomberg Intelligence anticipates that the metaverse market will reach $800 billion by 2024.  5. Customer-Centricity All the Way: The focus shifts from mere acquisition to nurturing lasting relationships. In 2024,… ## Unforgettable: Marketing Meet-Up of the Year at Frameless URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/marketing-meet-up-of-the-year-at-frameless/ Published: 2023-11-08 Categories: Uncategorized In the world of marketing, where change is the only constant, last night's Marketing Meet Up at Frameless wasn't just another gathering—it was a celebration of community and growth. One moment, you're marvelling at its potential to revolutionise industries, and the next, you're grappling with the uncertainties it brings. This is particularly evident in the contrasting landscapes of the B2C and B2B sectors. While AI's integration in B2C has been relatively smooth, the B2B realm is treading with anticipation and apprehension. Fear of AI in B2B: The Apprehension Behind the Integration In the B2C sector, AI's presence is almost ubiquitous. From chatbots assisting with online shopping to personalised movie recommendations on streaming platforms, consumers have grown accustomed to AI's subtle nudges. However, the B2B sector is a different ball game. Here, decisions have more significant financial implications, longer sales cycles, and involve multiple stakeholders. The primary fear? The loss of the 'human touch'. In B2B, relationships are paramount. Businesses fear that automating processes might strip away crucial personal interactions for trust-building. There's also the concern about AI misinterpreting complex business needs or making decisions that don't consider the nuanced dynamics of B2B relationships. Moreover, with the rumoured advancements in models like ChatGPT-5 and the next steps for Bard, the lines between human and machine interactions are becoming even blurrier. If the rumours are true, these models will possess an understanding and generation capability that's eerily close to human-like. This raises ethical questions: How transparent should businesses be about using such advanced AI? Will stakeholders appreciate AI's efficiency, or will they feel deceived? AI's Astounding Accuracy in 2023: The Silver Lining On the flip side, the open sourcing of AI models has been a game-changer. It has democratised access to AI, allowing businesses of all sizes to harness its power. This has led to faster and more precise data collection and training, making AI tools more… ## Striking the Perfect Balance: New Balance’s Marketing Mastery Revealed! The benefits of this collaboration are discussed, including examples from successful companies such as Airbnb and Patagonia. By working together, HR and Marketing can create engaging experiences for employees that align with the business values and mission, attracting and retaining top talent. The article emphasises brands that successfully implement this approach not only to positively impact society but are also more attractive to employees. Employee engagement and attracting top talent are two of the biggest challenges that businesses face today. The competition for talented employees is intense, and it's no longer enough to simply offer a high salary or good benefits to stand out. Instead, brands need to be strategic in their approach, and that means collaborating across departments to achieve the best results. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at why collaboration is key, and how HR and Marketing can work together to achieve success. Why Collaborate? In today's fast-paced business environment, attracting and retaining top talent has become an essential priority for businesses and brands. To accomplish this, the collaboration between Human Resources (HR) and Marketing is vital. By working together, they can effectively enhance employer branding, increase employee engagement, and close the 'purpose gap' between purpose rhetoric and purpose reality. One of the most essential benefits of HR and Marketing working together is creating a strong employer brand. A businesses employer brand refers to its reputation as an employer, which is critical in attracting and retaining top talent. HR is responsible for managing the employee experience. At the same time, Marketing is responsible for promoting the brand's image to the… ## A Growing Concern of The Current Cost of Living Crisis in Today’s World URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/a-growing-concern-of-the-current-cost-of-living-crisis-in-todays-world/ Published: 2022-10-24 Categories: Uncategorized As we dive deeper into the new decade of the 2020s, there is simply no notion of normality to be had any more. Instead, headlines and lifestyles alike are dominated by a perpetual spin cycle of the unexpected – from international health crises and rising tensions in mainland Europe, through to the cost-of-living crisis that we are collectively staring down today. In a world in which simply living is becoming increasingly difficult – let alone working and doing business – what can be done to cement any level of certainty or accountability in people’s minds? And more than this, what can brands do to not only navigate the cost-of-living crisis with their businesses intact – even when still recovering from pandemics, supply chain disruptions, labour shortages and worse – but also become the chosen allies of a tired and trepidation population, in sore need of reprieve?   The cost-of-living crisis is a cocktail of sordid symptoms Economies worldwide were battered by the global health crisis and finding a route through that preserved the very fabric of society without needlessly endangering lives was a delicate balancing act that some countries approached differently to others. In the UK, a series of lockdowns and liberations alike created a culture of confusion, doubled down on by deceptive governmental practices that left public faith in those being trusted to lead them through that crisis – let alone the cost-of-living crisis of today – irreparably harmed. Yet make no mistake, the spotlight shone brightly on brands alike during the pandemic – from forcing workers to plough through lockdowns to ignoring social distancing measures and worse besides. This level of scrutiny in people towards brands remains in place today and has left even the most experienced of marketers scratching their heads at how best to frame the… ## Aromatherapy Associates Have Been Awarded The World’s Best Aromatherapy Brand URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/aromatheraphy-associates-have-been-awarded-the-worlds-best-aromatheraphy-brand/ Published: 2022-10-24 Categories: Uncategorized World-leading luxury wellness brand Aromatherapy Associates is thrilled to announce they are the 2022 winners of the World’s Best Aromatherapy Brand at the World Spa Awards 2022 – voted by spa in… World-leading luxury wellness brand Aromatherapy Associates is thrilled to announce they are the 2022 winners of the World’s Best Aromatherapy Brand at the World Spa Awards 2022 – voted by spa industry professionals and consumers. However, not many people expected it to take over the workplace so quickly, changing the way we interact with our colleagues and bosses since the COVID pandemic. Here’s what you need to know.   Why Would Anyone Need the Metaverse? When we think about the metaverse, images of gaming worlds and digital social spaces like Second Life or Habbo Hotel probably come to mind. But the truth is, the metaverse is already changing the way we work — and it’s only going to become more integral in the years to come. Over the past decade or so, the metaverse – often thought of as a kind of futuristic, digital equivalent of the real world – has been steadily evolving into something more mundane and integral to our everyday lives. And, as is often the case, that evolution is driven by a need we didn’t even know we had. Take, for example, the way we work. For centuries, we’ve relied on physical offices and machinery to do our work. But, as the world has become increasingly mobile and our working habits have increasingly become multi-tasking, this model has become increasingly limiting. That’s where the metaverse comes in. As a virtual space, the metaverse can host all kinds of interactive objects and applications – including computer programs, websites, and even whole business ecosystems. And, because it’s a digital space, it can be created and edited using any number of devices, from laptops to smartphones.   How Is the Metaverse Implemented in the Workspace? We know it sounds incredible — who would want an online avatar when you can do everything in person? Well, it might have something to do… ## Brands And The Minimal Approach URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/brands-and-the-minimal-approach/ Published: 2022-09-01 Categories: Uncategorized The world of marketing is crowded to say the least. For every product, service, and tool there's an endless supply of options to choose from - and it can be tough to stand out from the crowd. While strategies of the past may have revolved around flooding the market with as much content as possible, today's marketers are taking a new approach to the way they vie for customers' attention in a highly competitive landscape. They're shifting focus from quantity to quality and applying a minimalistic mindset not only to the way they circulate collateral, but also design it.   What is Minimalism? Minimalism is a design style that emphasises simplicity and the removal of superfluous elements. It originated in the post-World War II era through abstract expressionism and subtle art fixtures. Today, it's a mainstream concept that's widely applied across all facets of society, from architecture and interiors to fashion and web design. The entire point of minimalism is to strip away anything that isn't absolutely necessary in order to create a clean and uncluttered look. This approach can be applied to both physical and digital spaces. To sum it all up, minimalism is all about less is more.   Minimalism and Marketing As the advertising landscape continues to become more crowded and noisier, brands are looking for ways to cut through the clutter and make a lasting impression on consumers. One of the ways they're doing this is by rethinking the way they design their marketing collateral. Brands are beginning to move away from busy, complex designs in favour of something that's cleaner and simpler. They're reducing the amount of text and copy they use, and instead relying on strong visuals to tell their story. This approach not only makes collateral more visually appealing, but also easier to… ## Summer Party 2022 at De Vere Latimer Estate URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/summer-party-2022-at-de-vere-latimer-estate/ Published: 2022-07-08 Categories: Uncategorized Our Summer Meetup was attended by 80 or so Superbrands UK, CoolBrands UK & expert council members who recently joined us for our first Summer Party at the gorgeous De Vere Latimer Estate. In fact, the content marketing industry was set to be worth more than $400 billion in 2021. With the constant battle to always create content that is impactful, customer expectations are only further rising. They expect businesses and brands to go above and beyond in order to capture their attention. This means that if you aren’t already doing this, you need to do much more. With the bar set increasingly high for modern marketers, creating great content that actively engages your audience really isn’t an easy task. However, this is where interactive play comes in and changes your life. Interactive content can help you bridge the engagement gap by pulling in users to the content by requiring their engagement. Then, you give them something in return. With only a little creative flair, your users can engage more readily, build bonds with your brand, and provide more information. For these reasons, we can expect interactive content to play a massive role in content operations in the coming years.   What is the Meaning of Interactive Content? To put it as simply as possible, interactive content is content that works to engage your audience. It is the type of content that asks for action or input from your consumer. It is an excellent and very intelligent way to generate engagement and brand loyalty that typical content can’t always do. Interactive content is essentially characterized by various resources to encourage users to interact with what they have been presented with. In the digital realm, many types of interactive content include videos, infographics, calculators, and even quizzes. Now, let’s take a look at some of the benefits… ## How NFTs Will Shape the Future URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-nfts-will-shape-the-future/ Published: 2022-06-23 Categories: Uncategorized The acronym NFT stands for "non-fungible tokens." "Non-fungible" tokens are defined by Coinbase as "a specific kind of crypto asset in which each token is unique - rather than 'fungible' assets such as Bitcoin and dollars bills, which are all worth the same amount. Because every NFT is distinct. NFTs gained a lot of traction in February 2021, when an artist named Beeple sold a 10-second video for $6.6 million. Collectors who bought the video got no physical item in exchange for their money; rather, they received a token, an NFT, attesting that each owner's version was the genuine one NFTs can be anything from an artwork, a domain name, music piece, a trading card, or any other digital good with a value associated to it — even a tweet. Here are some examples of how NFTs are being used or could be used in the future. Gaming In the gaming sector, blockchain technology and NFTs have a lot of promise. The most well-known play-to-earn (P2E) game is Axie Infinity, which is likely the most popular P2E game in the world. The game is based on buying, breeding, and training Axies for battle, similar to Pokémon. The Axies themselves are NFTs, and through combat players can earn Smooth Love Potion, a cryptocurrency that can be sold on a secondary market for real currency. It is one of the world's most valuable NFT projects, with over $1 billion in trade on its platform. NFT Ticketing The NFT market is rapidly expanding, with the launch of new products by companies such as GET Protocol and Centaurify. The creation of NFTs for tickets allows for greater control over the resell market, more secure ticket storage, and the potential to regard tickets as digital collectibles. NFTs have the potential to offer lifelong value, unique… ## The Evolution Of Branding With Logos URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-evolution-of-branding-with-logos-2/ Published: 2022-06-23 Categories: Uncategorized To say that the concept of brand identity has come a long way since marketing first began would be quite an understatement. The evolution of branding with logos, seen throughout our society today, is a far cry from the dry and textbook-like way products were advertised in the 19th Century. Today, city hotspots like Piccadilly Circus, Shibuya Crossing and Times Square are ablaze with bold brands and big ideas. In today’s connected and rapid-fire attention span economy, grabbing your customers’ attention has never been more competitive – and that makes nailing your logos and branding vital. With that in mind, how has branding with logos evolved – and what are the best practices shaping how it works today? Let’s dive right in. Keeping your logo simple – but impactful Your brand logo is your globally unique iconography, and that means the pressure is on to build a logo that is recognisable at a split second glance – yet also deep and powerful enough to say everything it needs to about who you are and what you do. For this reason, most of the design advice for brand logo evolution and design today hones in on that simplified approach. The 2020s are a colourful decade, yet pastel and complementary colours – pinks dancing with blues, powerful monochromes, rustic reds and ambers – seem to stay in style. A big trend growing in traction for brand logo evolution today is gradients in those colours, too. Rather than the stark contrast between, say, green and yellow, many symbols for brands are fusing their chosen colour liveries into gradients that smoothly meld into one another. It’s visually distinct and aesthetically pleasing – plus certain to stick in buyers’ minds. Emblems add an enigmatic edge Although we poked fun at Victorian adverts earlier in today’s… ## The Art of Storytelling Through Social Media URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-evolution-of-branding-with-logos/ Published: 2022-06-23 Categories: Uncategorized You must tell a story if you want your content to succeed on the internet; it must be engaging and informative. From a young age, storytelling draws a human's interest. As we grow older, we never lose our desire for excellent stories; that’s why we read books, watch movies, and enjoy TV shows. So we know storytelling works in Hollywood, but how do we know it works in content marketing? In short, it absolutely does! Storytelling appeals to human nature. Research says that on a regular basis, over a half of us are too stressed to get a good night of quality sleep. What's more, it seems that going to bed tired, but with our mind too full of worries to drop off is an issue more prevalent in women than men.  The problem is, the more anxious we get about not sleeping, the more stressed out we get and the harder it is to fall asleep. So it's easy to get trapped in a nasty Stress:Sleep Cycle that is exhausting and bad for our health and well-being. Lack of sleep triggers the immune system into action.  This is the same ‘fight or flight’ response that we get when we are exposed to tense situations. Staying on that red alert level for an extended period, or experiencing it nightly puts strain on our bodies.  Over exposure to stress creates a chain reaction in our bodies that can raise our blood pressure, create fluctuation in glucose levels and cause inflammation - all of which combine to increase our chance of having a stroke. Don't get stressed reading all this. You might have heard about it from a friend, a colleague, or on social media and wondered what it is all about. And if you regularly read business magazines, you probably have seen publications about corporate social responsibility initiatives undertaken by leading companies. So, what is corporate social responsibility, and why should you care? Today, the onset of globalization has challenged organizations to consider how their employees, customers, and other investors see them. Companies now have to focus on more than just growth, profitability, or brand recognition. They have to go above and beyond to cater to the needs of their stakeholders and the general public. And this is what corporate social responsibility is all about. In this post, we delve into the crux of corporate social responsibility and explain why it matters to an organization. Let’s dive in! What Is Corporate Social Responsibility? Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to the measures organizations take to ensure they’re offering beneficial and ethical services to their stakeholders. CSR can also be defined as a self-adjusting plan of action that enables companies to maintain social accountability towards themselves, stakeholders, and the general public. Corporate social responsibility focuses on the social, economic, and environmental benefits businesses offer to their stakeholders. The purpose of CSR is to promote sustainable development by assuming responsibility for other people’s social and environmental well-being. A recent study by Business Perspectives International found that companies’ CSR activities can significantly influence word-of-mouth marketing and customer retention. The research also revealed that organizations are more likely to retain loyal customers when they engage in valuable and ethical social, economic, and environmental operations. So, what are some of the common CSR activities that your business can put into action? However, if you’re stuck doing the same ol’ thing everyday and aren’t actively brainstorming innovative ideas for content, you might not be getting the most out of your strategy. Consider utilising more video content It’s true what they say: video content is the future of social media marketing. An example is that when people get thirsty and want a cold drink, the chances are that they will think of Coke or Pepsi. These drinks are so popular that people do not refer to them as beverages; instead, they call them by their names. Brand awareness is usually at the top of the funnel in marketing teams. That is because it helps ensure that potential clients choose your product or service whenever they are faced with a seemingly difficult decision. For instance, when a person is looking for a cold beverage to drink, they will almost always pick the one that has a familiar name. Brand awareness campaigns make products seem familiar and safe. It, therefore, helps ensure that clients trust the product. Brand awareness campaigns also help people understand what you have to offer and how it can benefit them. You'll realise that it may be quite difficult to increase sales or expand into new markets without rigorous brand awareness campaigns. Specific Advantages of Brand Awareness Understanding some specific advantages of brand awareness is key to appreciating why it is essential to marketing. Boosts market share and sales: The more people know about your brand, the higher the chances that they will use it. That is why your marketing team must develop targeted campaigns to reach high-quality audiences that can, in turn, buy into your idea. Scale-up in new places: Brand awareness campaigns can be crucial in reaching new or unexplored markets. For instance, if your campaigns have focused mainly on social media, you can try supplementing this by incorporating SEO and search advertising. These campaigns can increase your online presence and create better brand awareness. Improved brand perception: The… ## The Ninth Trends & Insight’s Forum URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/trends-insights-forum/ Published: 2022-04-29 Categories: Uncategorized Superbrands UK, Superbrands USA & CoolBrands® UK members joined us last week for the ninth Trends & Insights Forum 2022 at The May Fair Hotel. Did you know, for example, that over 60% of consumers are actively cutting back on single-use plastics, and almost 50% are committed to buying more seasonal produce? Meanwhile, four out of every five people are more likely to shop with brands that adopt environmentally sustainable practices. Such scrutiny represents a positive change of direction in many sectors. As well as holding companies to account for their corporate responsibilities, it encourages brands to adopt more transparent approaches to marketing. However, with businesses under increased pressure to flaunt their eco-credentials, some are resorting to unscrupulous marketing tactics. Fashion brand H&M recently came under fire for misleading customers about its products. Ironically, its supposedly eco-friendly “Conscious” collection was found to contain more environmentally damaging materials than its main clothing line, leaving the company open to accusations of so-called “greenwashing”. If you’ve never heard of greenwashing before, it’s time to get clued up on the basics. Arming yourself with this knowledge will help you maintain a strong relationship with eco-conscious consumers and avoid PR disasters. So, what is greenwashing exactly? Greenwashing is a marketing practice that involves exaggerating, misrepresenting, or outright lying about a brand’s sustainability credentials. The term is commonly associated with oil companies and other major polluters, but it can affect companies in virtually any industry. While greenwashing is occasionally pernicious and calculated, even well-intentioned companies can misrepresent their sustainability practices from time to time. In the long-term, greenwashing could significantly hamper efforts to address the climate crisis. According to recent estimates, over 40% of businesses falsify or exaggerate their sustainability claims, lulling consumers into a false sense of security about their personal choices. So, how can you avoid this trap? Seven tips for avoiding greenwashing Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to avoid… ## Collaboration: The Road To Net Zero In The Events Industry URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/net-zero-in-the-events-industry/ Published: 2022-03-28 Categories: Uncategorized An insightful article from our Superbrand, Olympia London, discussing the road to net zero in the events industry. The UK is committed to achieving net zero by 2050. Due to its scale and reach, the events industry can make an impact on achieving the UK goal and Superbrand Olympia London was one of the first venues in the UK to commit to the Net Zero Carbon Pledge. The international events industry initiative is supported by the UN Climate Change Secretariat with the goal  to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050 at the latest. But what now? How can the events industry accomplish this goal? Recognising interdependence and collaboration The commitment is just the first step. It marks a new era, a bigger ambition and therefore a new mindset for each company that signs up. The events industry’s supply chain is complex. So, even if one company could become net zero on its own, it would struggle to dent the wider environmental impact of the industry as a whole. So as some business take on external consultants to help review the carbon impacts specific to their business operations to plan their roadmap, we also need to consider how the industry as a whole can meet the net zero goal. Our interdependence is key and collaboration is crucial. As the venue’s commercial director Anna Golden says: “Partnerships have been essential to achieve and maintain zero-to-landfill and high recycling rates for over a decade at Olympia London; and will also be crucial to achieve net zero. As an industry, nurturing strong collaborations with event organisers and partners is absolutely necessary to bring the industry together to achieve this goal.” Connecting with value-aligned partners The strong interconnected nature of the events industry is one of… ## Sustainability Workshop at The Carlton House Terrace URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/workshop-at-the-carlton-house/ Published: 2022-03-23 Categories: Uncategorized Our first Workshop of the year was held at the Carlton House Terrace in the stunning Reading Room. Metaverse isn’t something in the future. It’s already here and millions are part of it. It’s digital marketing’s next frontier and brands across categories are venturing into the metaverse to acquire and engage with customers. What is metaverse? As the word suggests, the metaverse is “beyond” the “universe.” It’s an immerse, virtual world filled with virtual representations or avatars of real people. Metaverse exists in real-time where avatars actively interact with each other and the universe around them. Users access this world through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies. The easiest way to understand the metaverse is to see it as an evolved video game. Players can interact and make decisions within this world. They can own, create, buy, and sell assets. For their efforts, these avatars are rewarded and recognised inside this environment. Two of the biggest metaverses are Roblox and Fortnight. Metaverse and digital marketing The biggest reason for marketers to enter the metaverse is that digital-native consumers are already engaging in that world. From Gen X to millennials to Gen Z, multiple population segments are interacting in this environment. This gives brands opportunities to target these audiences and deliver augmented brand experiences. Some of the biggest brands in the world have already established their presence in the metaverse in highly creative and engaging ways. Vans has a virtual skatepark that allows players to earn points by trying new tricks in Roblox. These points can be redeemed in the virtual store to get their avatars customised. More than 48 million players have already visited this virtual park. Gucci launched The Gucci Virtual 25 through VRChat and Roblox. These digital sneakers are sold for $12.99.… ## How to Develop A Strong Brand Identity URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-to-develop-a-strong-brand-identity/ Published: 2022-02-21 Categories: Uncategorized To develop a strong brand identity, you must build consumer trust. Branding also includes the expectations, associations, and beliefs a brand evokes in the mind of its audience. With sustainability and climate change making headlines every day, eco-friendly brands have an advantage over their competition. Sustainable branding matters because more and more consumers are basing their choices on the impact your brand has on the environment.   What Sustainable Branding Means Building a sustainable brand means looking beyond business operations alone. Organisations hoping to connect with environmentally conscious consumers need to integrate not only environmental concerns into their operations. They also need to consider social issues and economic concerns. To create a truly sustainable brand, companies need to understand how closely interrelated these three aspects are. For that reason, building a sustainable brand starts with your business goals and the products and services you offer. It requires a major commitment by everyone in the company. Sourcing environmentally sound materials and developing equally solid operational procedures are two of the key steps. Based on this foundation, marketing teams can then develop a sustainable branding strategy.   Benefits of Sustainable Branding The ultimate goal of sustainable branding is to connect to ecologically and socially conscious customers. Over the past two decades, more consumers have started choosing brands that look past pure profit. The UK Ethical Consumer Markets Report shows that ethical spending and finance increased by 24% from 2019 to 2020 alone. Spending has doubled over the past ten years, and the market is now worth more than £120 billion. Being part of this growing economy benefits UK businesses in multiple ways: Leading an economic transition Increasing sales Leading an Economic Transition Awareness of environmental and social issues continues to grow among consumers. You might want to try experiential marketing! Today, many marketers are driven by Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics and have almost forgotten about creating a personal experience with their customers. The problem is, when you make content for search engines rather than for people, you miss an opportunity to know your audience on a personal level. Real marketing isn't defined by keywords and rankings. It's defined by customer engagement! And that's what experiential marketing is all about. It aims to create an emotional bond between the audience and the brand through immersive events. And it works! According to PWC research, 70% of consumers consider an excellent customer experience key to customer loyalty. This article will introduce you to experiential marketing and explain why it's so important for your business.   What Is Experiential Marketing? Picture this; between watching football at the stadium and streaming it live on TV, which one would you prefer? Most people would prefer being at the stadium—even though doing so will incur additional costs. Why? It all comes down to experience. Participating allows you to become a part of something instead of merely watching it through digital media. The distinctive combination of sights, smell, sound, and personal interactions create a unique experience that you cannot get with other means. And that experience is what people pay for. Experiential marketing seeks to bring out that kind of experience to consumers. It's an all-encompassing term used to describe marketing and advertising activities that focus on consumer experience. Simply put, experiential marketing is a strategy that focuses on engaging the customer through branded experiences. The idea is to make customers experience something tangible and associate with your brand or… ## Why Does Your Business Need a Content Alignment Strategy? From email newsletters to social media posts to video marketing, the focus is on delivering content to engage and excite audiences. But not too many marketers pause to ask whether their brand and content are in alignment. Any piece of communication that originates from a brand should be in sync with its identity, values, tone, manner, and importantly, purpose. Without an alignment between brand and content, there will be visible dissonance and all the communication efforts would go in vain. To understand it, first, we need to define the concepts.   What is brand alignment? With brand alignment, you ensure that all actions from your organisation are consistent and under a well-defined set of principles. This goes beyond communication and extends to all functions, approaches, values, and interactions of the company. Brand alignment can be carried out on an existing set of legacy ideas or refreshed to reflect the plans of a company. When diligently implemented, all stakeholders in the company, from employees to external associates, would seamlessly know the organisation’s values.   What is content alignment? Content alignment ensures that all pieces of communication from your organisation will have the same tone, style, voice, and character. This leads to consistency, which will aid in message recall. Marketing teams and their external partners will have to make sure that all content created for the brand follows the same set of guidelines. These marketing assets include website and social media copy, HR documentation, sales collateral, advertising, and PR messages, thought leadership articles, and internal communication documents. With content alignment, it will be easier for consumers to recognise your brand. It will also ensure that you don’t have to unnecessarily spend on exposure.   How to get brand and content alignment Define your… ## Video Marketing: Complete Guide for 2022 URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/video-marketing-complete-guide-for-2022/ Published: 2022-01-11 Categories: Uncategorized Video will get you results! Benefits of Personalised Marketing Enhance interactions Whenever you send customers the right message at the right time, there is a high chance the conversation will continue.  There is no better way to generate potential leads other than through conversations. The first step to gaining customers trust begins with personalised marketing. Moreover, engaging conversations provide valuable information and feedback on areas you should improve. Increased Revenue and Sales Marketing personalisation increases the number of sales in the business. When customers feel safe and valued, they develop loyalty for your business. It draws off of exposure and consumer appeal, and is thus very effective in simply promoting a brand idea or message. It may be difficult, however, to achieve a balance between these elements. Your content shouldn't totally ignore your products, but must ensure that it adds value for consumers first. That's why focusing on your target consumer in your content marketing plan is critical. To assist you in doing this, we'll review some sure fire ways to get your marketing initiatives customer-centric. Design Outcome-Based Content Customers are generally concerned with issues, both personal and societal, and the manner in which products and product providers may help them live a better life and others. It should be visually appealing, interactive, emotional, and outcome-oriented.  Evocative content is one of the best things you can use to encourage customer engagement and interaction, and is thus pivotal to consider when implementing a marketing campaign. Emphasise Benefits Over Features Focus on the product's advantages rather than features. Use "you" instead of "we." Also, do keyword research and figure out the search intent behind your terms, and how you can best target it in response. Customer-centric content is one that genuinely connects the searcher's objective to the product on the page. It does not rely on brand terms and instead, centers around what the customer wants to achieve. Focus On Things They Love A company's narrative is compelling, but if you want to pique someone's interest, talk about issues that are important to them or that they enjoy. It's all about the customer.  Due to the simple but powerful concept of interest, people are more likely to engage… ## Why Recycling Plastic Bottles Is NOT the answer URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/why-recycling-plastic-bottles-is-not-the-answer/ Published: 2021-11-25 Categories: Uncategorized An insightful article from our CoolBrand, CanO Water, highlighting the benefits of why drinking water out of a recycled aluminium can is better than plastic bottles for the environment. WATER LOAD OF… An insightful article from our CoolBrand, CanO Water, highlighting the benefits of why drinking water out of a recycled aluminium can is better than plastic bottles for the environment. WATER LOAD OF PLASTIC B*****S! Since you started reading this, over 700 kilograms of plastic have already polluted our oceans. The more plastic we make, the more ends up in our forests, oceans and even our stomachs. We’ve been fooled by plastic’s ‘collection’, as this doesn’t always guarantee its recycling. We’re here to set the facts straight! In 2018 only 9% of plastic was globally recycled and that fell to 7% in 2019. It’s pathetic. 79% of all plastic ever made is either littered or landfilled. It’s time to do something about it. Don’t you think? Despite the UK’s rising local collection and recycling rates (recycling 57% of the 13 billion plastic bottles used each year) – plastic bottles are still continuing to turn up everywhere. 150 of them, in fact, line every mile of UK coastline. This is hardly surprising when there are a million of them sold every. single. minute. Yes, you read that right! Yes, we all know that tap water is the holy grail, but what does one do when their trusty reusable flask is forgotten and there’s no tap in sight? That’s why we decided to put water in the most recycled container on the planet, a can. We believe recycled aluminium is the fastest solution to stop plastic pollution. Why, you ask? Well…Get ready to take note! Meet the best can for the job. Here’s why drinking water out of a recycled aluminium can is better, than plastic bottles, for the environment. Aluminium cans are recyclable forever and ever and ever and ever and ever… cool, you get the gist. Aluminium retains it’s properties indefinitely.… ## How to Optimize Your Method of Traditional Marketing  URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-to-optimize-your-current-traditional-marketing-techniques-for-todays-digital-age/ Published: 2021-11-23 Categories: Uncategorized With more and more consumers shifting to digital channels to interact with brands, you’ve likely heard the phrase, “Traditional marketing is dead”. In today’s age of digital marketing, many traditional marketing techniques still work. And it’s still a great way to reach certain demographics and local prospects. Also, with traditional marketing, you can offer more face-to-face interaction and tangible marketing materials that evoke a lasting memory. For these reasons, it’s no wonder that two-thirds of small businesses use traditional marketing to facilitate a personal connection with their clients. But there’s no denying digital marketing is a powerful way to reach and attract new customers. However, the problem with having a digital only strategy is that the medium doesn’t drive the tangibility that traditional marketing does. So, which to choose? In this post, we’ll cover how you can integrate both for more cohesive marketing campaigns. Traditional Marketing Techniques That Still Work Print ads: Flyers, brochures, and business cards are still effective in building brand awareness and highlighting offers and discounts. You can also use your print marketing materials as gateways to your digital channels. For example, you can include your website and your social media handles on your print media. Direct mail: Direct mailings can have a greater impact than emails because there are fewer of them. As a result, customers tend to value them more. Events: In-person events rely on the power of human interaction. This allows you to show your personality in ways digital marketing can’t. There’s nothing quite like shaking a hand or sharing a smile. Even though face-to-face communication is the most direct way to convey a message, it isn’t always feasible. If you can’t do an in-person event, consider going virtual. Radio: The internet hasn’t taken over broadcasting yet. Radio is still a relevant medium that… ## Is Content Marketing The Future Of SEO? Content marketing is a form of inbound marketing where the aim is to create and distribute relevant, valuable, engaging, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. Content can be in many forms, including written articles, videos, social media posts, infographics, or podcasts. Interestingly enough, the content should be "expected, planned, and uninvited," which means that it should not just live on your website but should also be shared across the web in the form of other media such as YouTube videos or social media posts. The idea is to provide consistent and valuable information to your existing audience, drive "traffic from search engines," and attract new people to your audience. How does this tie in with SEO? In short, it does directly because content marketing aims to attract and retain a clearly defined audience by providing relevant and valuable information through various media. This can be achieved through using search engine optimization tactics such as keyword planning, on-page SEO and building backlinks.   Content marketing provides a number of benefits including: - Attracting organic search traffic from Google, Yahoo and other search engines. - Building brand awareness and increasing website traffic. - Increasing your email newsletter subscriber base as people come to you for information first before searching elsewhere on the web. - Lowering the risk of creating a commercial relationship with your clients as you are simply providing them with valuable information. - Highlighting the expertise of your business and improving trustworthiness. How can I implement content marketing? It's relatively simple to run a content marketing campaign using a number of different strategies: - Regularly create quality written content such as blog posts. - Combine written content with video and upload it to YouTube. However, some people are still confused as to whether or it is important. Many people want to know how you’re supposed to differentiate your brand and what it means to differentiate your brand. These are all good questions that deserve attention. Let’s look at why differentiation is the most important marketing tactic. What Is Brand Differentiation? When you own a business, there will come a time sooner or later where you experience significant changes in what you do. It is simply the nature of offering professional services that the landscape will constantly change under your feet. Just as you change, so will your competitors. This means that above all, your clients will require change. The best example of this is that what may have been a competitive advantage when launching your business could lose its relevance later. This means that you will need to find your competitive advantage again This is extremely important to remember as you begin to understand brand differentiation. In essence, it will be your competitive advantage. As the name implies, it is what makes your business and brand different. However, the marketplace is never going to wait around for you. What you might have settled on yesterday won’t be the same tomorrow. Differentiation is a continuous process that is all about evaluating the marketplace and your brand to ensure success. Why Is Brand Differentiation So Important? Time and time again, research has shown that high-growth brands are almost three times as likely to have something that creates a difference between them and their competitors. A great brand differentiation strategy easily sets your brand apart from others. If you don’t have a strong differentiator, your only option is to compete on price which is essentially a race… ## Why is Brand Equity Important in Marketing? Customers are more likely to try new products from a brand they are loyal to. In today's dynamic business environment, customer trust plays a vital role in helping brands secure their position in the market and stay ahead of their competitors. Assuming you already have a list of clients demanding your attention, you may choose to focus more on keeping them happy to come back the next time. And to achieve this, you can use your brand values to create customer trust, which eventually translates to brand loyalty. But how exactly can you use brand values to drive customer trust? Let's find out.   Offer Quality Products or Services Quality always stands out when it comes to brand values. Therefore, one way to win the hearts of your clients is by offering them quality products or services. And to ensure your products or services meet your clients' needs, it's advisable to include customers in the product design process. Besides, you should conduct rigorous testing on the products before releasing them to the customers. And don't forget to ask for feedback from the clients to identify areas of improvement. Typically, whatever product or service you have in store for your customers, ensure it's of high quality. Maintain Brand Consistency Another killer tip in driving customer trust through brand values is maintaining brand consistency. This means you should strive to remain consistent in everything you say or do about your brand. Consistency here covers everything from your brand's logo and colour to its personality and tone. Brand consistency increases brand awareness and helps customers gain confidence in your brand. It also helps clients relate to your brand whenever they come across its logo or colours. Align Your Brand's Values With Your Customers' Values Another great way to attract your customers' attention is… ## How Has Digital Marketing Changed Consumer Behaviour URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-evolving-relationship-between-brands-social-2/ Published: 2021-08-20 Categories: Uncategorized ## The Evolving Relationship Between Brands & Social URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-evolving-relationship-between-brands-social/ Published: 2021-08-19 Categories: Uncategorized Social media has changed the way that we connect and engage with brands. The relationship between a brand and its followers is no longer one-sided. Brands now must maintain their authenticity while also giving their audience what they want: engaging content, interaction, and personalised service. This post will discuss how social media has evolved from being just another marketing channel for brands to an integral part of every company's customer strategy.   Branding Before even gaining a follower, most companies invest a lot of time and money into their brand. They spend time creating a logo, developing the name of their business, and defining who they are as an organisation. But now, there are social media to take into account. For any company starting on social media, it can be hard to know which branding elements should come first: your social media profile or your company's website. Social media has made it easier than ever to start branding. Now more than ever, the first thing that a new visitor sees is a brand's Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page. It even gets embedded on their follower feed as soon as they follow the account. This means that everything is happening in real-time.   Transparency Next, we have the topic of transparency. Initially, this was challenging for many brands because everything had to be approved by an entire team before being posted online. Now that brands have conversations with their followers, they have to be more diligent than ever about what they say and how they say it. This is no longer the case; today, most brands have small social media teams to let take over. This means that the tone and personality of a company's brand can change depending on who is taking control of the Instagram or Twitter account. It… ## The Importance of Customer Segmentation URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-importance-of-customer-segmentation/ Published: 2021-08-12 Categories: Uncategorized Gone are the days when you operated your business on intuitions, assuming that all your customers had uniform needs. In today's ever-changing business world, you need to know your customers inside out to have good customer retention and boost sales. And one proven tactic to achieve this is through customer segmentation. In this article, we'll look at what customer segmentation is and why it allows you to engage with your customers in a more effective way. So, let's get started. What Is Customer Segmentation? Customer segmentation is the act of dividing a homogenous consumer base into segments that reflect similarities among consumers in each group. These segments comprise customers depicting similarities in gender, age, geographical location, occupation, and lifestyle, to mention a few. Importance of Customer Segmentation The goal of customer segmentation is to help you tailor your marketing techniques to meet the specific needs of each consumer group. And through this form of marketing, you get to interact with your clients more effectively. So, here's why customer segmentation offers effective interaction with your clients. Helps Create and Communicate Targeted Product Messages Personalised marketing messages help develop better relations between you and your clients. This is because such messages resonate with the needs of specific clientele groups but not others. How you communicate about a product or service to one segment is different from how you do it for another. For instance, if one of your customer segments has senior engineers, they may relate well to technical information communicated through infographics or white papers. On the other hand, regular project managers may respond better to less technical information passed through blog posts or videos. So, customer segmentation helps you tailor your communication to the specific needs of different segments using the most relevant communication channels. Offers Improved Customer Service Customer… ## How to Effectively Use Interactive Content In Marketing URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-to-effectively-use-interactive-content-in-marketing/ Published: 2021-07-19 Categories: Uncategorized Interactive content marketing is the future of online marketing. But that doesn’t mean it’s effortless to get right. Here’s a primer on interactive marketing: what it is and how you can effectively use interactive content in your marketing efforts. What is interactive content marketing? Interactive content marketing is the practice of using content to engage your target audience based on their participation. It can be something as simple as a quiz or something a little more complex, such as offering free instant quotes based on information. Successful interactive content marketing engages the user without them feeling targeted. The beauty is in its subtlety. It also requires a secondary focus on conversion rate optimisation. When developing interactive content, you’re better off measuring your success through total shares or average session time rather than your click-through rate. Your goal is to provide value to your audience rather than direct lead generation. Keep it relevant When developing interactive content, you want to keep it relevant to your company. If you sell sofas, there’s very little reason to run a quiz determining what car is the best choice for a consumer. Sit down with your marketing team and brainstorm interactive content options. Concentrate on shareability and value but keep it relevant to your industry and service. If in doubt, look at what your competition is doing. Often, you can gauge what works and what doesn’t by what has come before. Just don’t out and out copy another company – that’s a bad look all round. Prioritise user experience Most interactive content marketing takes place digitally on the web. Like any web-based content strategy, you must prioritise your user experience. Don’t skimp on the design or build of your experience. Use custom graphics and make sure to engage a UI expert in the process. If… ## Serps & Position Zero URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/serps-position-zero/ Published: 2021-07-19 Categories: Uncategorized ## How to Implement Conversational Marketing URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-effect-of-covid-on-digital-marketing/ Published: 2021-07-19 Categories: Uncategorized Modern marketing has adapted to customers’ needs and desires. Marketing practices are all about the bond between companies and customers. Companies now focus on heightening customers’ brand experience every step of the way. Yet, consumers want more. They want a personalized, tailored connection with a brand. This requires a deep understanding of customers’ needs and desires. Consequently, conversational marketing has grown into being a go-to marketing practice. What Is Conversational Marketing? Conversational marketing puts consumers first by interacting with them in the form of dialogue. It’s based on a one-to-one, real-time interaction throughout various channels and is helpful in learning more about your consumers. Conversational marketing aligns with modern-day customers’ needs. It allows you to improve your customers’ experience through personal communication and tailored interactions. The most commonly used method for implementing conversational marketing is by leveraging the power of chatbots. What Are Chatbots? But many people are still unclear on just what branding is. More than a logo and a company "voice," branding is a promise to your audience. A promise about what they can expect from every interaction with your company, its products, services, and employees. With this in mind, let's dive a little deeper into what it means to create a consistent brand experience.   How to achieve consistent brand management An example of consistent brand management is imagining stepping into a popular coffee house franchise branch with locations across the globe. It doesn't matter if that branch is in London, Tokyo, or Toronto - you know what to expect from the experience, from the layout of the cafe to the colour of the barista's apron to the drink in your cup.    Achieving this kind of consistency is a huge feat, but it comes down to a handful of effective strategies:  Establishing solid processes Implementing thorough training programs Integrating your technology    Well-established processes performed by an educated and empowered workforce and supported by efficient technology enable your company to deliver on its brand promise reliably. These three elements working together make brand management predictable and repeatable.        Why employee brand engagement is key to your success Your employees are the keepers of your brand. As the people who carry out processes and interact with customers, your team holds the key to your success. Consider, too, that online platforms have granted customers greater access to your brand than ever before and at more incredible speeds than ever before. Each of these connection points—whether it's a chatbot, a social media account, or an email response—has the power to strengthen, weaken, or destroy a customer's relationship with your… ## Should Brands Stay Quiet Or Take a Stand On Sensitive Matters? There are several reasons. Most companies are in the business of building relationships with customers, and they don't want to upset those relationships by saying something that doesn't resonate with their customer base. There are companies that have long been successful that are not in the public eye at all, and a decision to change that position can be a double-edged sword. Several issues drive this discussion. One is that customer relationships have been strained over the years due to news stories that hurt one brand or another (think BP's oil spill disaster). Many brands choose to take a stand on public topics because they believe employees and consumers will trust businesses and brand names more if they are vocal about their social responsibility and stated values. Consumers will trust brands if they believe they care about their communities and their employees. Consumers want to know where their money is going, what it is doing, and who is making the decisions. They want to know that businesses aren't just running away from their responsibilities. They want them to be leaders and do what they can to help make a difference. So those are the primary reasons some businesses decide to speak out and why other companies choose to remain silent. But beyond those basic reasons is the issue of protecting the brand name. One of the top reasons that some companies decide to speak out and others decide not to is that doing so can be seen as interference. After all, consumers and customers decide who they buy based on how they feel they are being treated and their beliefs. If a company acts in a way that affects these beliefs or causes consumers to believe… ## How To Motivate A Tired Work From Home Team URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-to-motivate-a-tired-work-from-home-team/ Published: 2021-03-30 Categories: Uncategorized Remote team rallies are a powerful motivational tool to help stimulate team members. Many innovative approaches help build the culture of trust, loyalty and teamwork within your team. Team rallies can facilitate communication between team members working in separate locations by asking questions and expressing their ideas and opinions openly and constructively. First, a team rally facilitator ensures that each team member has a meaningful contribution. Every team member is must have a role and is required to fulfil his/her role, no matter how small he/she may think it is. Everyone from the office junior to the CEO should have their say. The team rally enables every team member to feel that they have a genuine part in the team's success, and each input will be valued and recognised. By doing this, you can build up team morale. When a team has high morale and a high level of trust, each member will help drive the business's success. Team rallies provide staff who feel tired a chance to participate in something outside their regular day to day work. The facilitator invites each team member to take the stage and tell the group how they feel and what their plans are for the coming week. Once everybody understands and feels interested, the facilitator will ask them to share their ideas, goals and suggestions for the next week. These ideas and plans will then form the basis of what is to be done and worked on for the coming week. Team Building is about setting goals and pushing towards them. If a team doesn't have any definite goals, it creates a lack of focus for people ending in confusion and inefficiency. When a team has a specific purpose, they will know their role in achieving that goal and work towards it. Sometimes… ## How To Cut Your Marketing Spends With Effective Marketing Solutions URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/how-to-cut-your-marketing-spends-with-effective-marketing-solutions/ Published: 2021-03-29 Categories: Uncategorized Many companies face a situation where they have no money left to execute their current challenging marketing strategy. A heartfelt endorsement from a favourite YouTuber or reality TV star can cut through and catch the attention of the all-important youth market. But it’s easy to get things wrong, as a rising tide of regulator enforcement shows. Here are our top tips for running a compliant influencer campaign.   Choose your partner carefully.Influencers trade on their social media presence, but sometimes they’ve built that presence on an irreverent or even controversial approach. Look back through their accounts, and check them out using web searches, to make sure there are no obvious reputational issues waiting to emerge. If you’re marketing products with restrictions on marketing to children, like alcohol or high fat, salt and sugar foods, check their audience too – many influencers have surprisingly young followers. Sign them up. Make sure you have a proper contract. This should at least cover what the influencer will do (how many posts? At what times? How often?), what they won’t do (nothing offensive or controversial, and no undermining your brand or praising your competitors), your level of control (will you write the posts for them, or vet their posts? And always make sure you can get their posts deleted!) and how you can terminate. If they have an agency acting for them, sign them up too, and get them to make sure the influencer complies. Make clear their posts are ads.The most common reason for upheld ASA complaints against influencer ads is that it’s not clear they’re ads. That’s a breach of advertising rules – and potentially even a criminal offence. Make sure the influencer includes “#ad”, at the top of… ## Why is website design so critical to your marketing strategy URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/why-is-website-design-so-critical-to-your-marketing-strategy/ Published: 2021-03-16 Categories: Uncategorized There’s no denying it anymore - the digital age of marketing is in full swing (you might even call it the renaissance), and trends are changing faster than you say “artificial intelligence”. Suppose you are building your website for the first time or rebranding from an older version. In that case, you know that it’s crucial to integrate all of your digital branding, including emails, social media, digital advertising, and yes,… your website.   Once you have your brand strategy down, it’s crucial to utilize your website to influence and even increase your digital marketing value. You want to get the best results for your money, right? There’s so much you can do by just implementing a few extra design aesthetics and focusing on your customer’s journey as they navigate your website   Here are some reasons why website design is so critical to your marketing strategy: The Sky’s The Limit - Show Off Your Brand’s Personality  Your website is your canvas in which to paint a picture for your customers to know who you are as a company - this is your chance to strut your brand’s “stuff” by inspiring and invigorating your customer to take action. It’s all about strong company values and a personable approach, and brand morals are more important than ever these days. Good website design can infer so much about your brand and values without having to “say” much at all. Your website should feel personal and transparent for your brand ethos and style, so your customers can relate to you on a more intimate level (which will increase lifetime brand loyalty). And it gives you a chance to show off what makes you and your company so great to work with!   User-Friendly Design Can Make or Break You  Referring back to the customer journey, depending… ## What Is SEO And Why Is It Important To Your Marketing Efforts? When you’re creating content for a website, how you write and format it is different from how you’d typically write. This is because there is a specific way Google likes the format of your content to be in.  When Google likes the way your content is written and believes it to be valuable, it shows it to others by boosting your website up through the ranks. While the idea itself is relatively simple, there are some technical aspects of SEO that can make or break the success of the content you’re putting on your website.   What do you need to know about SEO?   How Can SEO Help Marketing In Your Business? SEO is incredibly important and helpful in marketing your business – when you do it right. Understanding how to use SEO when writing your website content can help you to move your website higher up in the search results on Google.   The best (and most) traffic comes from the top few spots in the search results.  For example, if someone is searching Google for “best hairdresser in New York,” and you optimize your website content to use these keywords, you have more chance of your business moving up into one of the top search results. What does any of this mean? It means more clicks over to your website from interested customers and, ultimately, more work.   Using Keywords In Your Marketing Efforts   Keywords & Keyword Research    What is a keyword?  These are specific words that you include in your metadata, headlines, and scatter in your content body. If a user then searches for those words (or a variety of them) in Google, your website will be presented as relevant to what they are looking for. A keyword can… ## What Can Attention Marketing Do for Your Brand? That means by the time you have read this sentence; your attention could be gone. What’s more, our post-COVID world has not been kind to marketers, leading to moderate to significant budget cuts. That means brands must find other means to reach customers. For brands to continue to vie for customers’ attention, they’ll have to pull out all of the stops. That is where attention marketing comes in. If you’re looking for ways to engage your audience, build brand awareness, and increase your customer base, read on to discover what attention marketing can do for your brand.   What Is Attention Marketing?  First coined by entrepreneur Steve Jelley describes a cost-effective strategy to capture a customer’s attention through engaging and thought-provoking messages. Seth Godin popularized the term in his book Purple Cow. Attention marketing is a form of marketing that attempts to engage and acquire new customers through unconventional means, often through social media.   How to Use Attention Marketing Because social media is often a driver of attention marketing, it makes sense that this form of marketing should be easily digestible, engaging, and worth sharing. Therefore, its sole purpose is grabbing someone’s attention, but it should have a vehicle attached to it to learn more. Great attention marketing should get a user’s attention, yes, but it should also create the urgency to perform an action. That could be anything from: Subscribe to an email list Read a blog post Download an Ebook Watch a video Purchase a product   While attention marketing is excellent to pique a customer’s interest, its real value lies in creating action off of social media.   Tips for Using Attention Marketing There are several ways that… ## The Importance of Content Marketing URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/the-importance-of-content-marketing/ Published: 2021-02-09 Categories: Uncategorized In the world of marketing, content is king. It certainly is more efficient. However, you may be surprised to find out—that isn’t the most efficient way to build lasting relationships with your target audience. When you adapt your social media posts for specific platforms, you create more engagement for your brand, creating better results for your business. To get this right takes some critical understanding. Each platform has specific algorithms. That means the post that’s overflowing with engagement on one platform could be hearing crickets on another. To help you navigate these complexities, we’ve broken down how some of the major social networks evaluate content.   Facebook Facebook has become essential for businesses. If your customers are on there, you need to be there as well. Due to Facebook’s algorithms, you must be strategic about your posts. These algorithms are continually changing, which can make it difficult. Facebook is known for its clever quips and funny memes and sales-oriented content that uses videos, images, and text. Although this may work for some, it doesn’t work for all. That’s where Facebook’s algorithm can become tricky. Essentially, Facebook looks for authentic interactions. It orders its content based on what the user might find relevant to them. Businesses must create content that focuses on real interactions in the form of likes, shares, and comments. So how can you boost engagement? Share when your audience is online. Use video content to drive engagement. Interact with your audience by responding to comments. Focusing on Facebook’s algorithm, tailoring your content for the platform, and engaging with your audience can help you grow your brand in the long run.   LinkedIn There’s a different kind of vibe on LinkedIn than there is on Facebook. LinkedIn is… ## Influencer marketing trends for 2021 URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/influencer-marketing-trends-for-2021/ Published: 2021-01-22 Categories: Uncategorized Are you wondering about the hot influencer marketing trends for 2021?   It should come as no surprise that Influencer Marketing is only expected to grow. Reports indicate that influencer marketing could be a $15 billion industry by the end of 2022. Not only that, but 63% of marketers plan to increase their influencer marketing budget in 2021. No doubt, 2021 appears to be a very exciting year for influencers and marketers alike. Here are a few of the hot trends you can expect for 2021. The Rise of Micro-Influencers One trend that seems to have been emerging since 2019 is that micro-influencers, those with less than 100K followers, have shown higher engagement rates with their audience no matter what the genre. In fact, micro-influencers generate 7X more engagement on Instagram than influencers with more followers.   Here’s why: Micro-influencers post more than influencers with more followers. Micro-influencers are fierce content creators. They are active brand advocates and share what works for them.   Wise marketers would be smart to hop on this growing trend. Not only are micro-influencers getting higher engagement, but they also cost less than influencers with more followers.   Performance-Based Deals As marketing becomes more and more driven by data, it shouldn’t be surprising that marketers want to spend money where there is value. Therefore, influencers can expect to sign performance-based contracts with brands. While this isn’t ideal for influencers, it’s just the new facts of doing business in a data-driven world. However, for influencers who can demonstrate high engagement and a significant return-on-investment, they look to make more money, especially micro-influencers.   Value-Driven Content Due to the harsh realities of COVID, many influencers took a step back to be more “real” with their followers. Some influencers made a point to show candid “no-filter” shots, while others focused on authentic shots and captions… ## COVID-19 Marketing Trends That Will Continue Through 2021 URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/covid-19-marketing-trends-that-will-continue-through-2021/ Published: 2021-01-14 Categories: Uncategorized Throughout the rise of COVID-19 and the global health crises, the way businesses operated had to change completely, including revamping the importance of a digital marketing strategy. We’re seeing industries splitting into two distinct categories: those who are overwhelmed with orders (think: grocery, food delivery, goods manufacturers) and those lacking (restaurants, dine-in, furniture, luxury items, hospitality, and event industries). There are several COVID-19 marketing trends that have changed digital marketing and will have lasting effects throughout 2021.   Some of these key trends are just reaching their stride and still have quite the trajectory ahead of them. The radical change of delivery options and major growth from digital companies has forever changed the marketing landscape, and all companies have to be on board with implementing digital strategies into their marketing.    More Digital Touchpoints Along the Buyer’s Journey  More than ever, customers utilise digital tools for their discovery and evaluation journey through your company’s sales funnel. Does your website have up-to-date information about all of your products?  Brainstorm ways you can improve the digital experience of your buyer’s journey. It can be updating your website to take online payments, make appointments online, or implement an online chat communication for your customer service office.  Make sure your website is mobile-friendly! Customers are more often on their phones, and mobile shopping has increased.    More E-commerce Platforms Attracting Investment Businesses saw a huge increase in online sales in 2020, and this trend will continue throughout 2021. Amazon says they expect a permanent shift toward online sales. Companies are putting more money into online advertising, including SEO and content marketing, which puts them ahead of the game.  If you haven’t already, make sure you can sell your product/services online via e-commerce. Don’t underestimate the power of content marketing for your business.   Staying Connected With Customers Without… ## Sustainability: the future of creative brands URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/sustainability-the-future-of-creative-brands/ Published: 2020-10-06 Categories: Uncategorized It isn’t just a global pandemic, or even Brexit, that made the past few years so tough for brands. For several years before there was a need to pivot to meet the new purchasing behaviours brought on by lockdown, changes were already taking place in society that had (and still have) a direct impact on consumers’ relationships with brands. And now that we are looking to establish a post-lockdown and post-Brexit, ‘new normal’, the ability of brands to respond to those changes will be more important than ever. So, how have consumers changed when it comes to picking brands? Consumer change does not happen in a vacuum, rather it is a manifestation of changes happening in the wider society. As figures from Edelman, the world’s largest PR and marketing consultancy firm, showed back in 2018, there has been a substantial shift in consumers’ trust – in short, they are tending to trust businesses more than governments, now. This seems to be an organic development from a trend identified by the same firm in 2017, for consumers to make purchasing decisions based upon their own ethical and/or political beliefs. By 2018, Edelman found, 64% were belief-driven buyers and many felt brands had better ideas for, and were better able to drive, social change than government. By 2019 and 2020, Edelman found the change well embedded, with a large majority of consumers saying they needed to trust brands ‘to do what is right’, and increasingly seeing their purchase as a ‘vote’, in terms of embracing or ignoring brands based on their ethical, political and social positions. Clearly, remaining silent is not an option. Brands must pin their colours to the mast in order to be noticed.   ‘Green’ marketing – opportunity or fraught with danger? This large shift in attitude presents both a challenge… ## Keep cyberattacks from ruining your brand URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/keep-cyberattacks-from-ruining-your-brand/ Published: 2020-07-09 Categories: Uncategorized A successful cyberattack can cause major damage to your brand. It can affect your bottom line, as well as your business' standing and consumer trust. Cyberattacks can hurt big brands and really test their customers’ trust. However, they are not typically an extinction-level event. It’s not the same for small brands. Although the likelihood of some type of breach is just as high if not higher, but their chances of making a full recovery are much slimmer. The impact of a security breach can be broadly divided into three categories: reputational, legal and financial,   Reputational damage Reputation matters. We’ve all heard the Warren Buffett quote “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.” And nothing can ruin a reputation faster than a cyberattack. Hackers gaining customer information makes big headlines, as Zoom and EasyJet found out. And cyberattacks are increasing in number and impact. In April claims that half a million Zoom accounts have been hacked were raised in the media stating that the data from these accounts have been sold on the dark web. Reportedly, these accounts are being sold for less than a rupee each and in some cases, they are being given away for free. Many businesses and schools banned the use of zoom following these media reports. Trust is an essential element of customer relationship. Cyberattacks can damage your business' reputation and erode the trust your customers have for you. This, in turn, could potentially lead to: loss of customers loss of sales reduction in profits reputational damage can even impact on your suppliers, or affect relationships you may have with partners, investors and other third parties vested in your business. Legal consequences of successful cyberattacks One of the most rampant and personal threats to cyber security is data leaks, which can be extremely damaging to both an individual… ## Why I Joined A Peer to Peer Forum URL: https://marketingleadershiphub.com/peer-to-peer-forum/ Published: 2019-01-22 Categories: Uncategorized Why joining a peer to peer forum was the best decision of my life I wanted to open our blog with an insight into why I decided to start The Academy of Chief Marketers. I have always believed that the marketing function in organisations has never been fully understood or appreciated and where there are lots of organisations out there to support CEOs there are few that support marketing people at a high level.   Read my story A long long time ago... somewhere in London I came across an extraordinary man who at the time I had no idea would become my business mentor, coach and a very good friend. This gentleman told me about the Academy of Chief Executives an organisation that helped business leaders grow by sharing their experience, and together finding the right answers. At the time I had just taken over a family run design and marketing agency and having little business education I thought this could be a great opportunity. I signed up and never looked back. Every month a small group of 10-15 CEOs would have the privilege of a meeting being presented to by World Class speakers on a wide variety of subjects. This included both soft and hard skill speakers covering workshops on everything from 'Stress Prevention' and 'Pitch Perfection’ to 'Adventure Psychology' and 'Personal Power’. These speakers present all around the world usually too far larger audiences so having them in a small forum was priceless. I worked out I have experienced over 200 workshops which have equipped me with the skills to both grow my businesses and help clients and colleagues do the same. Some of my favourites takeaways have been the equation for life E+R=O and the SUMO scale. He’s the author of “Great Answers To Tough Questions At Work” published by Wiley which has been given “Management Gold” endorsement from the Chartered Management Institute after being shortlisted for the Management Book Of The Year Award. Media Marketing Avoiding Tough Media Questions Has Consequences Getting mainstream media exposure for your brand can be a great thing for marketers to do. But when there’s an issue running in the media which is tarnishing the reputation of your brand it can be highly damaging. My general advice to clients when the media are running news stories which put your brand in a bad light - fairly or unfairly - is that you need to engage with journalists on the matter. This often necessitates doing media interviews where the quality of your answers to tough media questions is crucial. Seeking to avoid answering media questions - framed in the public interest - has serious consequences. This is all the more so if the avoidance actually takes place in the media spotlight while the cameras are rolling. So being able to either give great answers to tough media questions yourself - or work with others in your company to craft and deliver those answers to defend the brand where it’s justified and justifiable - is imperative. The really good news is that being able to give great answers is a learnable and improvable skill. Alas, there many examples of people in the media spotlight who have not taken advantage of the opportunity to improve their responses before they’re under pressure from journalists. They and their organisation typically end up paying a big price.
